Advice on gaming laptop

I’m looking to get a “refurbished” gaming laptop on eBay for around $500.

It’s solely to play PC-only RTS games such as Regiments and the upcoming Broken Arrow.

Is a Dell with Intel Core i7 8th Gen with 32GB of RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 620, and SSD sufficient configuration for comfortable play?

Any input much appreciated.

Lenovo IdeaPad, Dell G15, and HP Victory. During promotions, the price of these laptops with 3050/3050ti will be around 800. Purchase an Intel 12th generation CPU rather than a Ryzen 6000/5000 if at all feasible.

When choosing laptop components based on your budget:

  1. Processors: For lower budgets, opt for Intel 11th, 12th, or 13th Gen Core i5/i7, or AMD Ryzen 5000/6000 Ryzen 5/7 CPUs. For budgets over $1.6K, consider Intel i9 or Ryzen 9 CPUs, excluding the 11th Gen Intel i5 and Ryzen 5000/Ryzen 5 models.
  2. Graphics Cards: Aim for an RTX 3060 or better. Prioritize laptops with higher VRAM if there are multiple versions available.
  3. RAM: Choose at least 16GB of DDR5 RAM, as it is faster and gradually replacing DDR4. Avoid laptops with DDR4 RAM if the CPU and GPU are top-notch.
  4. Storage: Most laptops come with a 500GB M.2 SSD. Depending on your needs, you can choose a 1TB or 2TB SSD or start with 500GB and upgrade later.

Which nation do you call home? Based on my availability in your area, I might be able to direct you in the right direction.

Do you play games on the fly too? Do you typically play at home instead? Because a desktop computer is a better option than a laptop if you want to play games at home. To be honest, eight hundred bucks will probably get you a decent mid-range PC but also probably a cheap gaming laptop.
